Summary:

The brilliant creative activity of Professor Evgenii Petrovich Pokatilov, Associate mem- ber of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, member of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Russia, winner of the State Prize of Moldova, over more than 55 years provided an outstanding contribution to the field of solid-state physics, which has been recognized by the physical community worldwide. In the present paper, I briefly overview the key directions of his scientific research, which represent Prof. E.P. Pokatilov as a visionary with a powerful and penetrating mind.
